Isle of Wight Computer Repairs

Bit of a cliché I know, but if you can, it really is worth unplugging all devices (computer, printer, router/modem, access points, homeplug devices etc...) from the mains, irrespective of the appearance of any status lights or whatever else seems to be working OK. Simply turning them off and on again using the switch on the device does not always perform a true power cycle, depending on the device. This is particularly true of many printers.

Wait ten seconds or so, then switch them on again.

Give them ten minutes to settle and try to do whatever it was that didn't work.
Don't press any reset buttons unless you have been instructed to, or know it is OK to do so, as in some circumstances you may lose settings.

If your Internet isn't working after restarting things, check there's not a little aeroplane symbol down near the bottom right corner of your computer screen. If there is, your WiFi could be switched off - look for a wifi switch or button on your keyboard or side/front of your laptop.
